The Research Committee helps GIM faculty spark, sustain, and spread their research. Examples include providing guidance on data collection and interpretation, poster submission, and grant applications. Researchers are encouraged to collaborate with colleagues as part of a larger team to cultivate feedback and diverse strategies and ideas.

The committee oversees the Mini-Grant Program administered by the GIM Division.  It is creating an infrastructure for supporting research and collaborations, which includes the designation of Carl Stepnowsky as Research Coach.  Future plans include collaborating with the UCSD Center for Health Innovation, Hospital Medicine, Senior Medicine, and ACTRI.

A quarterly newsletter highlights GIM scholarly activities such as publications, research projects, and conference and workshop presentations.  A monthly meeting provides a forum for individuals to collaborate, report on their research progress, share ideas and experiences, and explore potential research topics.

UCSD Sources

  • UCSD Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) exists to promote high-quality, ethical research. The HRPP does this by serving as the advocate for the rights and welfare of persons who participate in research programs conducted by UCSD faculty, staff, and students.
  • Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute's (ACTRI) vision is to translate scientific discoveries into improved health.  Its mission is to facilitate the research of others by providing resources, training, and collaboration opportunities for ACTRI scientists, health care providers, and the community.
